Why Bother? Austin City Government 101

Thanks to the passage of the "10-1" plan changing the Austin City Council to 10 members who each represent a different part of the city, Austin’s form of city government just got a big overhaul, and it can be confusing knowing who does what inside City Hall.

On Saturday, Feb. 22, we're teaming up with KLRU-TV, Austin PBS, The Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life and The League of Women Voters of the Austin Area to host a second forum to answer your questions and to teach you how to make your voice heard at City Hall.

"Why Bother? Austin City Government 101" provides a general overview and education on the functions of Austin’s city government in order to increase civic engagement with an emphasis on the challenges and opportunities the new 10-1 form of governance will bring.

Austin City Government 101 – Speak Out! (10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014)

۰        Nelson Linder, president, Austin Branch NAACP

The forum runs from 10 a.m. to noon with the doors opening at 9:30 a.m. The event is free and open to the public and takes place at the KLRU Studios.  2504-B Whitis Ave. Map to KLRU-TV studios.
