The changes require preventative measures in new and existing facilities including fire alarms, carbon monoxide detection systems and sprinklers. Seventy-five dogs died in the September fire.

Hood, a local business owner, defeated Lisa King with 67% of the votes.

Seats are up for election on the Austin City Council, the Austin ISD school board and Georgetown City Council.

The two candidates on the runoff ballot for Georgetown's City Council District 2 seat are Lisa King and Shawn Hood.
