What's in a name? Well, a lot – at least for those in Austin’s vibrant restaurant, live music and condiment scenes.

Earlier this month, Stubb's Austin Restaurant Co. settled a trademark dispute with McCormick and Co., and its subsidiary One World Foods, so that McCormick will be the only company that can use the name Stubb's.

Two companies, both using the name Stubb's, have reached an agreement to settle a trademark dispute. It means the restaurant and live music venue called Stubb's will have to change its name.

Red River music venues will be permitted to host live outdoor music one hour later on weekends starting this May. The Austin City Council on Thursday approved a six-month pilot program to allow venues like Stubbs BBQ and Mohawk to have bands play until 1 a.m. weekends – instead of until midnight.
