THE LEGISLATIVE SESSION IS OVER!!! (Sorry just had to get that out of my system)

On to the news of the day (so far):

Watching and Waiting for Gov. Perry

Another day, another dozen or so stories on Texas Governor Rick Perry and whether or not he'll run for the Republican nomination for President. A couple of big items from yesterday: first, a new FOX News poll has Perry 2nd, just behind former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. Second, the governor put out a fundraising e-mail yesterday that, while asking for money for his STATE account, mentioned President Obama. I'm pretty sure the President isn't running for a state office.

Austin City Council Endorses F1 Deal

So much for the concerns/hopes that new city council member Kathie Tovo would change the outcome of a council vote on whether or not to endorse an incentive deal that is helping to bring Formula One racing to Austin. With the city's blessing, F1 organizers in Austin are now able to get $25 million a year for 10 years.

Texas Legislature Special Session Ends (as I mentioned above)

With lawmakers heading out of Austin, our friends over at the Texas Tribune (KUT's political reporting partner) have a handy-dandy run down of what happened to the big bills of the session.
