Austin Energy is resetting the meter, announcing it will present "suggested changes" to proposed rate increases this Thursday.

If you’re thinking of buying an appliance anytime soon, you might want to circle Memorial Day weekend on your calendar. The state’s annual Energy Star sales tax holiday runs May 25- 27.

Dub Taylor with the State Energy Conservation Office says they want to encourage people with the idea that after you save on sales tax, you’ll also save on your electric bill.

“The appliances that are eligible for the Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday, the savings from those ranges anywhere from 10 percent to 75 percent, depending on the particular appliance or the product,” Taylor told KUHF Radio.

The state comptroller projects consumers will avoid paying $3 million in sales tax over the tax holiday weekend.
