In a new ad campaign, Austin-based Rodriguez calls Texas the “home of creative renegades.”";s:

Gov. Rick Perry is launching an ad campaign in Connecticut and New York, trying to lure businesses to the Lone Star State.

The move comes after Gov. Perry made similar efforts in California and Illinois. But this time, Perry’s taking his message to television screens instead of radio.

The two 30-second commercials feature famous faces such as former Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith and Austin-based film director Robert Rodriguez. But the main message comes from business leaders.

“Texas rewards success with no state income tax,” says Farouk Shami, the CHI hair product magnate and former Democratic gubernatorial hopeful. “I brought 1,200 jobs from China to Texas – where opportunities are plentiful and regulations are fair.”

The commercials hit the airwaves today. Perry himself will travel to the states next week. The $1 million dollar ad-buy and the trip are being paid for by Texas One – a nonprofit managed by the Governor’s office.

Below, the two ads set to begin airing in Connecticut and New York.
