The school year is almost over for Central Texas students, and many people are ready to get away on a summer vacation. But imagine a completely different kind of vacation - from smartphones.

When both of their smartphones broke in 2016, Junice and Rock Rockman opted not to repair or replace them. The Austin-area certified life and relationship coaches already had been doing technology-free days since 2010.

Now they wanted to see how living smartphone-free for a year would impact their family and businesses. They signed up for a landline, ramped up their email usage, and waited to see what would happen.
