The Del Valle school board voted 8-0 last night to appoint assistant superintendent of business and finance Kelly Crook as interim superintendent, effective June 13.
Crook has been with the district eight years and will be continuing in both her roles until the school board selects a new permanent superintendent.
Del Valle superintendent Bernard Blanchard and assistant superintendent Sandra Dowdy will be retiring later this month.
Blanchard announced his retirement May 13. Dowdy will not be renewing her contract, which expires this month.
