Experience Early Music with the Austin Troubadours

The Austin Troubadours have been playing early music together for the past six years, but the members of the band (including SlobodanVujisic, Meredith Rudusku, Bruce Colson, Victor Eijkhout, Neli Vujisic, John Walters, and Oliver Rajamani) have all been studying and performing for much longer than that.

They strive for authenticity, using painstakingly reproduced period instruments and even period-appropriate costuming, so seeing and hearing the Austin Troubadours is as close as one is likely to get to experiencing the music of the Renaissance.

Their next concert, "Pastime With Good Company," is this weekend at the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center. It's named for a madrigal written by King Henry VIII of England, and it'll be a bit of a Renaissance music travelogue, starting in England and moving through Europe to end up in the Balkans. While in the studio, artistic director Slobodan Vujisic made a special offer to KUT and KUTX listeners -- you can use the code word "music" to get discounted tickets to the show.

Mike is the production director at KUT, where he’s been working since his days as an English major at the University of Texas. He produces and hosts This Is My Thing and Arts Eclectic, and also produces Get Involved and the Sonic ID project. When pressed to do so, he’ll write short paragraphs about himself in the third person, but usually prefers not to.
