From Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, this month's Get Involved spotlight non-profit:
HAAM provides access to affordable health care for Austin’s low-income, uninsured working musicians, with a focus on prevention and wellness.
Inspired musical performances happen every day of the year in Austin. We pride ourselves on being the Live Music Capital of the World and are fortunate to have over 8,000 working musicians contributing to our city’s culture and economy. We have seen firsthand the dedication and generosity of Austin’s musicians. They inspire us to do more, do it better and perform at a level worthy of their talent and contribution. Since 2005, HAAM has provided over $30 million in healthcare services to over 3,000 Austin musicians. We can’t do it alone, HAAM’s staff, volunteers, network of service providers, sponsors and individual supporters are dedicated to keeping music in Austin alive and well. We hope you will join us.

HAAM IS HERE TO STAY!
Over 60% of our members did not qualify for Affordable Health Care Act subsidies and of members who did sign up for market place insurance, they will still need HAAM for dental, hearing, vision and wellness services.
“This is a very special city with affection for its musicians unrivaled by any other. I am very grateful to be a recipient of that love. Without the help of HAAM and generous donations, we might not be able to give every bit of the passion we have back to you with the music we make. That is after all what this city is all about! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!” Greg, HAAM member-musician
