Barton Springs Pool Reopens Today

After being closed for a week, Barton Springs Pool will reopen today. The famously frigid swimming hole was closed on March 20 due to flooding after last week’s heavy rain.

The pool's hours of operation are from 5 a. m. to 10 p. m. Normally the pool is only open for limited hours on Thursdays due to cleaning, but this Thursday the pool will stay open all day.

Undefeated Baylor Women's Team Makes NCAA Final Four

The Baylor Women's Basketball team beat Tennessee last night, 77-58, and will move on to the NCAA Final Four. The undefeated Lady Bears face Stanford on Sunday night in Denver.

The Boston Globe reports that if the team wins the NCAA Championship, it will be the first team in men's or women's NCAA history to finish a year with 40 wins.

Trayvon Martin Rally at the Capitol Gates

There will be a “Justice for Trayvon Martin” rally this afternoon from 5-7 p.m. at the State Capitol.

KUT News recently reported on the national discussion that has been sparked by Trayvon's killing and the "stand your ground laws" that exist in both Florida and Texas.

This past week, rallies have been held in cities across the country and Texas, including DallasHouston, and San Marcos. The Washington Post reported on two symbols that have emerged at the rallies: hoodies and Skittles, two items in the possession of 17-year old Martin when he was shot by George Zimmerman in Sanford, Florida.

A recent, anonymous police leak stated that Zimmerman was beaten by Martin, prompting him to fire in self-defense. But as Zimmerman wasn’t arrested, and Martin’s body went unidentified for several days, the extent of corroborating evidence is unknown.
