After Attacks Are Reported, Kyle Asks Pet Owners to Be Cautious

After three reports of smell pets being attacked in the last month, the City of Kyle Animal Control Department is asking pet owners to be extra cautious as the area's predators become more active.

Three attacks, occurring at night and the early morning within fenced in back yards, have left three pets dead in the Kyle area. The neighborhoods of Amberwood, Steeplechase, and The Trails are all involved.

Kyle Animal Control believes the animals may be coyotes, but is working with the Hays County Game Warden to determine what animals caused the attacks. Animal Control has put out motion activated game cameras to find the animals.

It is believed more than one animal may be involved and that the attacks may have come from a bobcat or bird of prey.

The City of Kyle is advising people to make sure their fences are prepared properly and to supervise their pets when outside.

If you have any concerns of questions, you can contact the City of Kyle Animal Control Department at 512-268-8800.
