If you're hitting the road for the New Year's holiday you'll be paying a bit more for gas this week. AAA Texas is reporting that gasoline prices are four cents higher across the state as compared to last week.
The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.09. That's up from $2.90 last year.
Pumps in the Austin metropolitan area are charging 3 cents more, on average. Last year in Austin, you could fill up for $2.88 a gallon. The highest average price of gas was $3.98, recorded in July of 2008.
The cheapest gas in the city right now is selling for $2.89 at I-35 and East 38 1/2 Street, according to AustinGasPrices.com.
