The latest exhibition at Tiny Park Art Space features the work of two artists: painter Joseph Noderer and sculptor Jamie Panzer.
Noderer's paintings are inspired by the landscapes and environments he grew up next to, as well as by his fascination with classic horror movies. The settings of his works tend to be eerie, unsettling locations that are either entirely abandoned or inhabited by shadowy, mysterious figures.
Panzer's works are varied, but many of his sculptures and digital works explore the natural world in unusual ways, often incorporating natural materials into new forms that meld the natural with the fantastic.
At first glance, one might not notice the similarities in the artists’ works. But Tiny Park curator Brian Willey must have dug a little deeper before pairing the two. Noderer and Panzer had never met before heading into our studio together, but during the course of our interview, they explored the common ground and similar themes in their works.
