The staff at our sister station KUTX scour the earth to bring listeners the best music. Each Friday, they share three of their favorite songs on Morning Edition.
Rustin Man
Starting off, let's talk about Paul Webb. He used to be the bassist for English post-rock outfit Talk Talk, but Webb has recently revisited his solo project, Rustin Man. Rustin Man's sophomore album Drift Code came out at the beginning of February, showing off a return-to-style for Webb's psychedelic, folksy art rock, best heard on "Our Tomorrows."
Cherry Glazerr
Next, something that ditches the art and turns the distortion up to 11. L.A. three-piece Cherry Glazerr just put out their third album, Stuffed & Ready, and as the name suggests, it's filled to brim with aggressive yet introspective iterations of rock. Here's an appetizer that'll show you just how fun irreverence can be: "Wasted Nun."
Andrew Bird
Finally we visit Andrew Bird, an artist I always tell myself I’m not gonna like for whatever reason but keeps proving me wrong time and time again. Case in point: Bird's latest single "Bloodless," one that recalls '70s folk rock and soul tendencies and definitely requires some light head bobbing. Bird's album My Finest Work Yet is out late March and he joins us for KUTX Live at the Four Seasons during SXSW.
