UT Longhorns Back on Winning Track
The Texas Longhorn football team beat Florida Atlantic Saturday 51-17. The Longhorns still have some heavy lifting ahead though; they face Texas A&M on Thanksgiving night at 7:00 p.m. in Austin. The Aggies beat Nebraska Saturday 9-6. The Longhorns are not yet eligible to play in a bowl game. They still need one more win to hit the six-win mark that would make them bowl eligible.
14th Annual Austin Empty Bowl Project
A bowl of a very different kind is on the minds of many Central Texans today. It's the 14th annual Austin Empty Bowl Project. Here is how it works: students and local potters have made thousands of ceramic bowls. Those bowls are for sale, and the buyers get to fill them with gourmet soup and enjoy a meal. The proceeds from the sale of the bowls benefits the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas. The event is today from 11:00 a.m until 3:00 p.m. at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center at 600 River Street in Austin.
