The Hays County Sheriff's Office Sunday night asked about 500 people to evacuate their homes because of a fire in northwest Hays County. People in the Stagecoach Ranch Subdivision were asked to evacuate as well as people who live within a three mile radius.

The evacuation area includes these roads: Stagecoach Ranch Road, Overland Stage Road, Deadwood Stage Road, Stagecoach Ranch Loop and Cripple Creek stage Road.

Hays County has also ordered evacuations in another area.  This includes Bell Springs Rd. to Lost Creek and Grand Summit.

As of last night, Hays County said there were no reports of injuries or burned homes in Hays County. The fire was slowing down but was not contained. Hays County officials say the 400-acre fire first started in Travis County before crossing the Hays County line at 6 p.m. Sunday.
