Austin may be reaffirming its place at the center of the gaming industry.
A company based in Germany has announced its first studio in North America will be in Austin.
Crytek GmbH ("Crytek") is an interactive entertainment company. It already has eight studios spread across Europe and Asia.The new studio paves the way for new opportunities around the U.S. and in North America. In a statement on the company’s website, Cryteck says the Austin studio is “ideally placed to embrace exciting new game, engine and business development opportunities in North America and beyond.”
The company has named a CEO of ‘Crytek USA Corp.’ and will base a “team of 35 experienced developers’ in Austin. It’s not clear if they’ll be hiring for those positions or bringing people in. While Austin is already included in the location options for job seekers on the company’s website, each category at the Austin studio says “There are currently no Jobs available for this category at this Studio .”
Crytek creates gaming experiences for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC, and mobile devices using their 3D-Game-Technology.
