A flash flood warning has been extended to 1:45 A.M for much of Austin and eastern Travis County, as well as central Hays County. It was originally set to expire at 10:45 p.m.
Up to three inches of rain have already fallen and flash flooding is already happening, the National Weather Service said. A severe thunderstorm warning for southern Travis County and much of Bastrop County is in effect until 8:45 p.m.
The Austin Fire Department said it is responding to multiple high water calls.
A line of storms is moving through Central Texas, bringing with it the possibility of quarter-sized hail and wind speeds of up to 60 mph, the National Weather Service said.
Here is a video of the flooding along South 1st Street in Austin. This area has seen multiple water rescues and around 5 inches of rainfall over the last hour.

Temperatures are forecast to fall into the 40s overnight, and Friday will be colder with highs in the upper 50s to near 60. Friday could also see wind gusts of up to 40 mph, which is why the National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory until 4 p.m.
