The Daily Buzz at TIFF, Episode 4

A still from 'The Daughter,' with newcomer Odessa Young as the titular daughter.

Daily Buzz Host John Wildman chats with Oscar-nominated actor Geoffrey Rush (Shakespeare in Love, Shine, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) and newcomer Odessa Young about working with Australian theater and film director Simon Stone on his newest film, The Daughter.

The film is an adaptation of Stone’s stage production of Henrik Ibsen’s The Wild Duck and stars Rush, Anna Torv, Sam Neill, Miranda Otto, with Young playing the daughter, Hedvig. Rush and Young discuss working together for the first time, why they wanted to work with Stone, their workshop experience six months prior to start of production, what it was like working with the duck and why Young considers herself a bird person now.
