After 21 hours of talking - whether it was an official filibuster or not is still up for debate - Republican U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas departed the Senate floor Wednesday.
Cruz had been trying to stall a vote on a House bill and in the process, had hoped to defund Obamacare. Neither of those things happened. But Cruz played to his base of support by standing up for an issue unpopular among many conservatives – the Affordable Care Act.
The Texas Tribune's Evan Smith and KUT's Jennifer Stayton talked about Cruz's talk-a-thon and the attention it has gotten him on the national stage. Listen to their conversation in the player above.
