Texas head football coach Mack Brown's staff will look a lot different next season.
Will Muschamp, UT's defensive coordinator and heir apparent to the Texas head coaching job, was named Saturday as the new head football coach at Florida.
“I want to thank (UT President) Bill Powers, (Athletic Director) DeLoss Dodds and the Board of Regents for the confidence they had in me,” Muschamp said in release from the Texas athletic department. “Texas is an unbelievable place that I'm really proud that I was able to be a part of. I really enjoyed working with the coaches, staff and all of the kids. It's just a great place with tremendous people."
The Longhorns' offensive coordinator for the last 13 years, Greg Davis, resigned under fire earlier this week, after UT stumbled to a 5-7 record and no bowl game for the first time since 1997.
