An arraignment date has been set for the accused Fort Hood shooter. Major Nidal Hasan’s will hear the charges filed against him for his general court-martial on Wednesday afternoon on post. At the proceeding Hasan will be asked to enter a plea.
Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, is accused of opening fire in a soldier readiness center at Fort Hood on November 5, 2009. He has been charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in connection with the shootings. Hasan was, himself, shot by police and has been paralyzed from the waist down since.
Fort Hood’s commander has authorized the death penalty as one possible punishment, if Hasan is found guilty.
