DeLay's Sentencing Hearing Starts Today

Former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay will be back in an Austin courtroom.  His sentencing hearing starts this morning.  DeLay was convicted in November on money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering charges.  Those charges were in connection to the 2002 Texas elections.  DeLay faces up to life in prison but his attorneys are asking for probation.

Texas Comptroller Announcing Revenue Estimate

Today we will get a clearer picture of just how big the state's budget shortfall is.  Texas Comptroller Susan Combs is releasing her projected revenue estimate today.  It will let lawmakers know how much they have to spend for the 2012-2013 budget years.  Some have speculated the budget hole is as high as $24 billion.  The 2011 Texas legislative session kicks off tomorrow.

Officials Make Arrest in "Twilight Rapist" Case

Law enforcement officials have made an arrest in the so called "Twilight Rapist" case.  The Texas Department of Public Safety reports man arrested this weekend in Jackson County has been linked to several crimes against elderly women in Central Texas.  DNA linked suspect Billy Joe Harris to assaults in Bell, Falls, Leon, and Yoakum Counties.  Victims ranged from 65 years old, to 91 years old.  The first known attack in this case was in January 2009.
