Weekend Rains Drench Central Texas

Chances are you woke up to some drizzle. The rain came down steady earlier this morning and over the weekend. YNN Meteorologist Rich Segal says Camp Mabry got more than two inches since Friday. Downtown Austin got an inch and three-quarters of rainfall. Lakes Buchanan and Travis remain at 37 percent capacity. Austin remains in exceptional drought - the worst case.

Imagine Austin, Occupy Protests on Public Safety Agenda

The City of Austin's Public Safety Commission has a busy agenda today. It will get briefings and updates on the city's Imagine Austin Comprehensive Plan, the Occupy Austin protests and downtown cameras. The public meeting starts at 4 p.m. at City Hall, in the Boards and Commissions Room. Citizens are allowed to speak.

While cities across the nation are cracking down on Occupy protests, the Austin American-Statesmanreports Austin city officials say there are no immediate plans to clear out the protesters at City Hall:

And while the number of protesters at Occupy Austin has dwindled dramatically as a previously announced Tuesday end date approaches, those who remain say they aren't going anywhere, and some would like to improve the image of the protest. "We have a plan to stay here as long as it takes to make the world change," said protester Natalie Atwater, who last week was making a list of the approximately 30 people present at the City Hall plaza that day so food could be allocated. "We're not just here for fun. This is serious business."

Sneak Peak of City's New Website

The City of Austin is getting ready to roll out a new website. Austinites can try it out and give their feedback at a user session tonight from 6-8 p.m. at Town Lake Center, 811 Barton Springs Road. It's your chance to tell the city whether you find the new site user-friendly and to give your suggestions. Another feedback session will be held Wednesday morning.
