The Austin City Council will take a first look today at the proposal to offer an economic incentive package to a company that provides security products.
The city is considering offering HID Global about $900,000 in rebates on taxes for real estate and equipment purchases.
The State of Texas is also offering the company close to $2 million from the Texas Enterprise Fund.
If the deal goes through, HID Global would build a manufacturing and distribution center in Northeast Austin, and create 276 jobs over 10 years.
Today the city council will get more details on the plan and set a public hearing to give residents a chance to comment on it. The meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon at City Hall.
