More than 200 authors and about 40,000 book fans will descend on the Texas Capitol October 26-27 for the 2013 Texas Book Festival. Throughout the year KUT News speaks with authors about their lives and their work. To celebrate the upcoming festival, we have collected some of those interviews here. From 9-11 to Scientology to the Kennedy assassination, it's a diverse set of works from a fascinating group of authors.

Headliners Announced for 2012 Texas Book Festival

First Lady Laura Bush announced the lineup for the 2012 Texas Book Festival this morning. This year’s festival will feature Cheryl Strayed, Tony Danza, Robert Caro, Junot Díaz, Jewel, Jeffrey Toobin, Zane, Tim O’Brien, Justin Cronin, and David Maraniss, among others. The full lineup of 250 authors across all literary genres can be found online at texasbookfestival.org.

The festival will take place on October 27-28 in and around the Texas State Capitol. Festival events include book signings, panel discussions with authors as well as live music and cooking demonstrations.

Organizers anticipate a turnout of over 40,000 attendees.  The festival is free and aims to support Texas public libraries and literacy programs.
