It’s official. Austin will host the Summer X Games starting next year.

This morning ESPN announced a four-year agreement to bring the games to the Circuit of the Americas starting in May of next year, beating out Chicago, Charlotte and Detroit.

In a statement, ESPN said the games “reflect the vibe and culture of the city, tapping into its rich music and cultural scene to surround the competition.”

Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell congratulated other cities on the year-long proposal process to secure the games.

“The X Games celebrate fitness, courage and individuality—traits greatly valued by our community—and we look forward to showing the world all of the wonderful things Austin has to offer,” Leffingwell said in a statement. “We also want to commend the three other cities in contention, Charlotte, Chicago and Detroit, for their excellent campaigns and a hard-fought competition.”

The games will take place on May 15 through May 18 next year at the Circuit of the Americas track which, the city says, could draw in at least 35,000 people each day.
