Transmission Events announced their annual Fun Fun Fun Fest will stay at Auditorium Shores this year, despite the city's ongoing renovation of the park that initially put the fest's location up in the air.

The ninth annual fest will be held Nov. 7 to Nov. 9 this year.

"Once the renovation plan was revealed, Auditorium Shores and the future of events there has been a hot topic in Austin," said Transmission's General Manager Bobby Garza in an announcement this morning. "As a veteran user of this park, we are happy that we were able to come to an agreement with parks, neighbors, stakeholders, and city officials on a plan that our city leaders could get behind."

The organizer says the festival saw an 18 percent increase in attendance last year over 2012, with 65,000 fans descending upon Auditorium Shores.

Last year the city approved a $3.5 million program to overhaul the park, including an improved irrigation system, new turf grass and changes the to park's off-leash dog areas, which threatened to relocate the festival. And, in case you missed it, here's a video of Mayor Lee Leffingwell — Transmission's "hero" who crusaded for the fest to stay at Auditorium Shores — dressed as The Dark Knight himself:
