As the holidays come to an end, it's likely that old tannenbaum might be looking a little tired. But there are plenty of options to help put that old evergreen to use.
This year, Austinites can drop off their Christmas tree between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the new location, 2304 Rollingwood Dr., Austin, TX, on the following days:
- Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015
- Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015
- Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015
- Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015
The entire tree collection will be recycled into mulch and will be available for free to Austin residents starting on Wednesday, January 21.
Austin residents with curbside trash pickup can also leave their trees at the curb on regular collection day.
Williamson County residents can recycle their trees at the Williamson County Landfill & Recycling Center, located at 600 Landfill Road, between Highway 79 and Highway 29.
Austin's Christmas tree recycling program has been around for 30 years and it keeps nearly 20,000 trees out of area landfills. The initiative is aimed at helping Austin achieve its goal of reaching Zero Waste by 2040.
