Man Taken Into Custody After Climbing Construction Crane On South Congress, Police Say
A man who climbed a construction crane on South Congress Avenue has climbed down and is in police custody. South Congress was closed for several hours Monday morning as crews tried to get the man down.
In a 6:53 a.m. tweet, the Austin Fire Department said the man was refusing to come down. Just after 8:20 a.m., the Austin Police Department said its SWAT team was called to the scene.
The man climbed down the crane around 8:30 a.m. and was taken into custody after being evaluated by medics.
