What Does UT Smell Like? Longhorns Launching Fragrance Line

flickr.com/publicenergy

University of Texas students, alumni and fans already bleed orange. But soon, they will also be able to smell like it.

University of Texas Creative Services says UT will be partnering with Masik Collegiate Fragrances to launch a scent exclusive to the Longhorns. The fragrance representatives will meet with students and have them determine the final scent. A release date for the fragrance has not been set.

But, for Longhorn fans, it's an unfortunate example of UT getting beat by Texas A&M. The Aggies have a fragrance coming out on Aug. 18 with the same company. According to the Associated Press, the perfume and cologne will have scents of rose, vanilla and apple that will remind people of maroon and white, the school’s colors. It will be marketed at around $35.

Masik Collegiate Fragrances currently markets scents for eleven colleges, including Penn State, the University of Alabama and Waseda University in Tokyo.

Masik determines the university’s smell by looking at the foundations of the school such as colors, landmarks, campus surroundings and its traditions.

According to Masik’s website, the fragrances are licensed products that are owned by the university. A percentage of sales goes towards the university’s athletic and scholarship funds for each bottle that is sold.

So, what do you think UT in a bottle would smell like? Oranges? Leather? Football players? Leave a comment below and let us know.
