White House Kicks Off South by South Lawn

South by South Lawn, an imprint of the Austin-based festival kicks off today on the White House lawn. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama both spoke at SXSW earlier this year. Today’s event is meant to encourage innovation via a festival of "art, ideas, and action."

In a statement, the White House says it’s a chance for quote “every American to roll up their sleeves and discover their own way to make a positive difference in our country.”  

Austin Mayor Steve Adler will be among those delivering opening remarks at the festival starting at noon central time. You can watch it live below:
