It’s national signing day and, admittedly, the Texas Longhorns are in a rebuilding period.
Ahead of signing day Charlie Strong had done a good job securing some of those bricks to rebuild the program. Just before Christmas, the Longhorns snagged the top-ranked prospect in the state, Mesquite Poteet’s Malik Jefferson. Still, the Longhorns lost four-star quarterback Kyler Murray to the Aggies, leaving them without a viable quarterback recruit in the 2015 class.
But so far the Longhorns seventh-ranked recruitment class is shaping up to make this signing day the best one in a while for fans of Texas football.
This morning to fill in that quarterback gap, they’ve stolen away four-star quarterback Kai Locksley from Florida State.

The Stronghorns also stole away Ryan Newsome from the UCLA Bruins, only to have the Bruins steal away presumed Longhorn recruit (and the second-ranked running back in the country) Soso Jamabo. Jamabo announced his commitment via Twitter in a tweet that – given Strong’s propensity for disciplining players – probably wouldn’t have gone over too well had he donned a UT uniform.

Jamabo did not delete the tweet, but he did follow up by pointing out that the words are lyrics from a Childish Gambino song: You See Me.
The Longhorns managed to scoop up Rockwall running back Chris Warren, a prospect who was widely considered a shoe-in for the University of Washington Huskies, in a decision that came down to the wire.
It was such a close call for Chris Warren that his mom brought # huskies balloons just in case. Crazy. @HornsDigest pic.twitter.com/RwLCjtDng0
