Former KVUE broadcast journalist Olga Campos has joined Austin philanthropist Milton Verret to work on charitable efforts for children with serious medical conditions.

Campos will begin by managing the CowParade Austin program Veret began, which will auction painted cow statues to benefit the Superhero Kids Fund for the Blood and Cancer Center at the Dell Children's Medical Center.

“Olga has done an incredible job over the years both reporting on our efforts and other local charities making a difference,” Verret said in a statement.

“Her ability to connect with the community and gain support for local charities is invaluable," he said.

Verret attracted international media attention in June when he bought Michael Jackson's "Thriller" jacket at auction for $1.8 million.

Campos recently announced her retirement from the anchor position on KVUE that she has held for the last 16 years.
