Council punted on two items of interest today.

Several high-profile items were put on hold at today's Austin City Council meeting.

One of the items delayed was a resolution requiring additional permitting for outdoor amphitheaters, pushed to council’s next meeting. A decision on thesale of the former Green Water Treatment Plant site was also pushed forward, all the way to April 26. Council members seek to spend the postponement time improving the affordable housing options at the development.

But one ongoing saga drew to a close – almost. Council approved a total of 45 additional permits for Lone Star Cab and Austin Cab, a process that required three separate readings. That said, the ordinance won’t take effect in two months.

Council looks to be winding down in time for a reasonable conclusion. But 5:30 p.m. proclamations contain a little culinary firepower. Uhciko chef Paul Qui, winner of “Top Chef: Texas,” will be on hand to receive a mayoral proclamation naming April 6 “Paul Qui Day” in Austin.

Qui will be presented the key to the city in a reception at City Hall tomorrow at 11 a.m. – and Uchiko will be providing light snacks.
