Update: The University of Texas Police Department is making Chief of Police candidate Captain Melissa Zak available today. Zak is currently with the Los Angeles Police Department.
A meet-and-greet is being held from 2 to 3 p.m. at North Office Building-A (NOA) 4.106.
Update (April 5, 8:14 a.m.): The first of four finalists in the running to be the next Chief of Police of the University of Texas will speak on campus to faculty, staff and students Friday afternoon.
David Carter, Chief of Staff at the Austin Police Department, will speak on campus in the Avaya Auditorium in the Applied Computational Engineering and Sciences Building from 2 to 3 p.m. Carter has worked at APD for 29 years.
Original Story (April 1, 7:42 p.m.): High-ranking Austin Police Department officials are two of the four finalists to be the next Chief of Police at the University of Texas at Austin.
The four finalists announced Monday are APD Chief of Staff David Carter and Assistant Chief Raul Munguia, along with Los Angeles Police Captain Melissa Zak and Miami University Police Chief John McCandless, of Oxford, Ohio.
Current UTPD Chief is Robert Dahlstrom, formerly of Austin Police, who’s retiring at the end of May.
The public can meet the finalists at upcoming forums.
