After a month of leaks and guessing games, the official music lineup in out. This year’s Fun Fun Fun Fest headliners are: M.I.A., Slayer, MGMT, Jurassic 5, Snoop Dogg, Descendents, Ice-T, Television, and FLAG.
The official release is Wednesday morning when weekend passes go on sale, but the full music lineup was revealed Tuesday night at a Fun Fun Fun Fest sponsored screening of the documentary, Vannin’, in Austin.
Other notable music acts heading to Auditorium Shores in November include: Washed Out, Big Freedia, Cut Copy, Quicksand, The Locust, Simian Mobile Disco, Deerhunter, King Khan and The Shrines, Johnny Marr, Daniel Johnston, Lupe Fiasco, Chelsea Light Moving, Poolside and Active Child.
In typical Fun Fun Fun Fest fashion, there will be live comedy and sports experiences. Festival producers have promised an expanded comedy and sports lineup this year, which will be announced at the 3rd Annual FFF Aqua Olympics August 3rd in Austin.
The 8th annual festival, which is produced by Transmission Events, promises new, up-and-coming talent, rare performances, and fan favorites in everything from indie rock to hip-hop, punk to electronic, metal to folk, comedy to action sports.
“Pound for pound, this is probably our most powerful line up in our 8-year history,” said James Moody, co-owner of FFF, in a press release. “We are staying true to our roots, while still pushing the limit on new ideas, discoveries and experiences for our fans.”
Weekend 3-day passes go on sale Wednesday morning. More information on tickets, the full lineup and stages can be found on the Fun Fun Fun Fest website. The Festival says single-day passes, student discounts and set times are coming in August.
The City of Austin will close Auditorium Shores after this year's Fun Fun Fun Fest to embark on a multimillion-dollar, C3 Presents-sponsored renovation, which is slated to take at least a year to complete; meaning Fun Fun Fun Fest will have to find a new home in 2014.
