The tech news website TechCrunch is in Austin hosting a competition looking for the next big ideas.
At Pitch-Off, startups and individuals make minute-long pitches to a panel of judges. It’s already made stops in Chicago, Seattle, Toronto and Boston.
“Austin was a natural fit for us,” said TechCrunch Senior Editor Matt Burns. “This area has a very rich history of technology. With that, Austin seems to be unique in Texas in that those companies, entrepreneurs that go off and start their own company, which is kind of how Silicon Valley started.”
The competition features 30 contestants chosen from 175 applicants, with the winner getting a ticket to a tech conference in San Francisco.
Pitch-off is from 6 to 10 at the Stage on Sixth.
