The Daily Buzz at Cannes: Episode 4

Daily Buzz Co-Host John Wildman interviews Jonas Carpignano, Director of Mediterranea, at the Nespresso Beach Cafe sitting on the edge of the Mediterranean Sea in the South of France, located across from the JW Marriott Hotel on Le Croisette.

Carpignano, the son of an Italian father and an African American mother, is a native of Rome. This young filmmaker is no stranger to Cannes or the film festival circuit. The film, a Sundance Lab project, follows two best friends as they travel across desert and sea, from Burkina Faso to Southern Italy in search of a better life. Last year, his short film Chjana was selected to play at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, and this talented young man shares with us why he was inspired to make a film on race relations and immigration in Italy as he returns to France one year later in the International Critics’ Week section of the Cannes Film Festival.
