Early voting starts today and everything is running smoothly so far at Travis County polling stations. That's not really a surprise, given that early voting rarely draws large crowds.
Voters still torn over which gubernatorial candidate to support probably weren't helped by Governor Rick Perry's refusal to debate his Democratic challenger Bill White. Perry said he would not do so unless White released his tax returns from when he was deputy U.S. energy secretary. White accused Perry of simply wanting to avoid a debate.
But we have the next best thing! On Friday, the Texas Tribune's Evan Smith sat down with both candidates for an hour and grilled them on their candidacies and the major challenges facing the Lonestar State. The event was co-sponsored by KUT.
