Following the weekend’s 44-23 loss to Ole Miss, Longhorn Football coach Mack Brown is realistic about the list of challenges facing the Longhorns and the dismal performance of his team so far this season.
“I’m more disappointed than anybody at the way we have started,” Brown said in a press conference on Monday. “It has kind of been the perfect storm. We’ve had injuries, we’ve had setbacks.”
Brown still remains optimistic on the remainder of the season and the Longhorns’ pursuit of a Big 12 championship, which starts with hosting Kansas State this Saturday. “It is a fresh start for us. Our goal last January was to win the Big 12 conference championship, and that hasn’t changed,” Brown said.
Brown hopes fans will continue filling Darrell K. Royal Stadium and cheering on his players, who he says are working hard and moving forward. He also made a case for himself: “It is my job to fix it, and I promise you I will continue to give it every minute, every ounce.”
As the stakes rise with Big 12 play starting this weekend, fans will see whether recent changes – such as sacking the Horns' defensive coordinator – will begin to pay off.
