LGBT groups are planning vigils tonight in Austin in the wake of the shootings at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida that left at least 50 people dead and more than 53 wounded early this morning.
It was the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
Interfaith leaders will hold a vigil at the Texas Capitol starting at 6 p.m. After the vigil, attendees will march to 4th Street and Colorado, where several of Austin's gay nightclubs are located. There, a second vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m., where Austin Mayor Steve Adler, state Senator Kirk Watson and others will speak. The second event is put on by Austin PRIDE and the Austin Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.
