Five Days To Vacate: How A Sudden Setback Can Lead To An Eviction In Travis County

Lynda Gonzalez for KUT

Austin is a city of renters: 55 percent of households here rent. The number drops slightly when you look at Travis County. That got KUT’s Audrey McGlinchy wondering: How common are evictions?

What she found surprised her. On average, 12 Travis County families are evicted a day from their homes.

In a series on eviction, "Five Days To Vacate," McGlinchy explores how evictions work and how tenants find themselves in the position of being forced to move out.
