After 12 years, the Alamo Drafthouse is upgrading its logo design.

Here it is! The local chain of beer and burger-serving movie theaters hired local design firm Guerilla Suit to create the new brand.  This is the first logo change for the Drafthouse in 12 years.

Check out their video to hear a history of the logo and the rationale behind the new design.

It's been a big year for the Drafthouse. Tim League launched a distribution company in September. Their first movie, Four Lions, was named a Top 10 Movie of the Year by Time Magazine.  League was recently profiled by AOL Small Business as founder of America's Coolest Movie Theater.

Meanwhile, the competition is paying attention. AMC Theaters just became the latest in a long line of theaters to offer dine-in options.

But die hard Drafthouse fans know that food and booze is only one part of the theater chain's success here in Austin. The Drafthouse's eclectic programming - with weekly cult film screenings like Terror Tuesdays, multi-course meals inspired by movies like O Brother Where Art Thou, music video sing-along nights, and live mocking of B-movies - is what keeps the theaters so packed that sometimes you have to show up an hour early just to get your pick of seats.
