5 Homemade Videos of Tornadoes in Northeast Texas

Tornadoes touched down near Dallas over the weekend, according to the Dallas Morning News and the AP.

A tornado is believed to have touched down in Rice, near Interstate 45, about 45 miles south of Dallas. The weather service also believes a second tornado hit near the Hunt County city of Lone Oak, about 60 miles northeast of Dallas near Lake Tawakoni.

NBC News reports that the twisters flipped cars and damaged a school.

In Texas, Navarro County Sheriff Leslie Cotten told NBC News that several cars were overturned by the twister near Interstate 45 at Rice, about 45 miles south of Dallas. Rice High School Principal Dan Taylor told NBC News that the nearby middle school had been damaged, but added he was unaware of any injuries. Taylor added that a semi-trailer on Interstate 45 near the high school had been overturned and had landed on another vehicle. Both drivers escaped with minor injuries.

Amateur videos of the twisters are already surfacing on YouTube. Here are five worth checking out.

We start off with this dramatic amateur video shot by Navarro county emergency management coordinator Eric Meyers. He videotaped himself driving dangerously close to the storm.
