The Texas Department of Public Safety is increasing patrols March 8-17 for Spring Break.
More DPS troopers will be on the roads watching for speeders, seat belt violations and especially drunk drivers.
DPS says troopers will concentrate patrols for DWI in areas and at times when crashes related to alcohol have tended to be most common.
The increased patrols are paid for by a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation, whose funding is credited for nearly one-third of DPS arrests related to alcohol during last year's increased enforcement period during Spring Break.
DPS is also warning spring breakers to avoid travel to Mexico.
