A plate of home cooked food from Dot's Place. The owner of the famed Pflugerville restaurant passed away this weekend.

Dorothy "Dot" Hewitt passed away at her home in Pflugerville on Saturday. She was 71. KXAN reports that Hewitt fought a long battle with leukemia.

Dot's Place hadn't been open since Feburary when Hewitt retired and closed the restaurant, located in an unassuming strip mall in Pflugerville.  On the last day of service, hundreds of people lined up to get a last taste of her home cooked dishes.

Some people reported on Yelp that the food didn't seem as good in the restaurant's final years.

For a real taste of Dot's Place, check out this video by Jeremy Leroy Smith.
