Alamo Drafthouse fans who snapped up last week's enormously popular LivingSocial deal of $9 for two movie tickets from Fandango are patting themselves on the back right now. That's because the local food and film franchise announced today in a news release that it is partnering with the web-based movie ticketing firm.

Movie-goers will still be able to purchase their tickets from Alamo Drafthouse websites, but now they'll have the added option of ponying up through Comcast-owned Fandango, which provides ticketing for most local theaters, along with reviews and trailers of upcoming films.

"Theatrical releases & our specialty programming can sell out days, even weeks in advance and sometimes after minutes of being available for purchase, so online and mobile ticketing is a huge part of our business," Drafthouse founder and CEO Tim League said in the news release.

League said the partnership will help Drafthouse as it expands into New York City, Los Angeles, and other US cities.

As part of the deal, Fandango will also provide a weekly "Guide to the Alamo Drafthouse" that will highlight their special events and cult film screenings.

To celebrate the partnership, Alamo Drafthouse and Fandango are holding a first-come, first-served party during the SXSW Film Festival. But you have to have a SXSW badge to get in the door.
