Immigrants who need to renew their DACA permits can get free legal help through a local nonprofit at a clinic Sept. 17.
Texas Here To Stay is hosting the clinic from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mexican Consulate on Ben White Boulevard to help people fill out and send in their renewal forms.
The Trump administration announced Tuesday it was phasing out the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program in March. Immigrants whose permits are set to expire between now and March 5, 2018, however, can still apply for renewal by Oct. 5.
An information session next Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Catholic Charities on Rutherford Lane will show applicants what documents and information they need in order to renew.
